Concept Development

• Gap analysis (against standards) and options assessment for Brownfields upgrades/modifications/replacements
• Development of SIS Project Plans which detail the necessary activities, timing and associated responsibilities that are required for the project
• Development of SIF lists from Hazard Studies in conjunction with Process Engineering
• C&E matrix development

Safety Integrity Level Assessment

• SIL workshop facilitation – techniques include calibrated risk graph (IEC 61511.3 Annex D)
• Layer of Protection Analysis (IEC 61511.3 Annex F)
• Modified Corporate Risk Matrix methods

Safety Instrumented System Specification

• Safety Requirements Specifications (SRS)
• SIS Hardware Specifications
• SIS Software Functional Design Specifications

SIS Design/Engineering

• Specification and procurement of SIS connected field instrumentation
• Field wiring design (terminations, loops, cable layouts, etc)
• SIS hardware procurement and cabinet manufacture (Logic solver & hardwired solutions.)
• SIS software application configuration
• Development and testing of custom logic function blocks (e.g. proof testing, bypass active, valve control, etc)
• SIL verification calculations to ensure each SIF meets target SIL in terms of architecture and risk reduction using tools such as exSILentia (by Exida) or manual calculations using Fault Tree Analysis
• Acting as third party independent reviewer of SIS designs

SIS Installation, Commissioning, Validation

• Detailed integrated hardware and software FAT’s, including procedures which can be staged in house
• Experienced technicians to perform the field installation of equipment/cabling and calibration verification of instrumentation
• Preparation of detailed functional test/commissioning procedures to validate the system meets the design intent
• Provision of NATA certified calibration equipment
